Squash Routine 6- Alley Games
This is the last routine in the series. You could do this routine as a seperate session and add another routine where you play everything long using the back half of the court (if the ball lands in-front of short line its out). You can also play the front half of the court (short game).

    I’m watching more and more people choke up on their racquets even on a normal ball ie no tight corners…. are people’s wrist not as strong anymore? I understand the control aspect but if your wrist is strong enough this is not a problem plus racquets are lighter today….the trade off is also reach but it is also butt ugly (pun intended) stylistically….i know one of the Khans had a choked up grip…still ugly to watch imho

    Appreciate the video, but don’t think the down swing section is correct. If you watch the pros, the racket drops down their back before swinging through - this lag is where the power is generated. Checkout Jesse Englebrecht’s explanation on squash skills 👌

    If your beginner opponent has control of their serve and they see you facing the wall they can mess with you by hitting it behind you then it depends on your reflexes and mental agility to turn and prep for a forehand or step back quick enough to take the backhand... More experienced players would be all over that but playing with your serve can earn a lot of cheap points even if they had a couple of winners.

    should you do the initial technique for a drop shot as well

    • @SquashSwing
      @SquashSwing Рік тому

      You can, but it depends on your skill level to where you should start. Keeping the same technique at the prep hides your shot more. Obviously this only works if you have time on the ball. If you don’t have time use a shorter or lower prep.

    • @SquashSwing
      @SquashSwing 3 роки тому

      Hi Lyndsey, backhand is easy, bring your other arm under your elbow and on the forehand hold your other hand out in front and bring in when you swing. Your other arm should be use to counterbalance your swing. Hope that helps.

      One thing to note is that you must have an open racket face when you pick up your racket to swing as lots of people who start playing squash has a closed racket face. This is why they hit the tin so much because they dont get under the ball.Hope this makes sence.

    • @SquashSwing
      @SquashSwing 5 років тому

      Laurie Mackenzie check your position and make sure you can step forward into a volley or let me ball bounce off the wall. So it’s really important to anticipate and move to the ball or wait. Then work on your volley.
