Squash Routine 6- Alley Games
This is the last routine in the series. You could do this routine as a seperate session and add another routine where you play everything long using the back half of the court (if the ball lands in-front of short line its out). You can also play the front half of the court (short game).

Fantastic video!
I’m watching more and more people choke up on their racquets even on a normal ball ie no tight corners…. are people’s wrist not as strong anymore? I understand the control aspect but if your wrist is strong enough this is not a problem plus racquets are lighter today….the trade off is also reach but it is also butt ugly (pun intended) stylistically….i know one of the Khans had a choked up grip…still ugly to watch imho
Thank you!
Appreciate the video, but don’t think the down swing section is correct. If you watch the pros, the racket drops down their back before swinging through - this lag is where the power is generated. Checkout Jesse Englebrecht’s explanation on squash skills 👌
If your beginner opponent has control of their serve and they see you facing the wall they can mess with you by hitting it behind you then it depends on your reflexes and mental agility to turn and prep for a forehand or step back quick enough to take the backhand... More experienced players would be all over that but playing with your serve can earn a lot of cheap points even if they had a couple of winners.
Your wall is fuckdd up
좋은 정보 감사합니다
Yes,I have that problem, the ball keeps coming straight to me! Thanks a lot
should you do the initial technique for a drop shot as well
You can, but it depends on your skill level to where you should start. Keeping the same technique at the prep hides your shot more. Obviously this only works if you have time on the ball. If you don’t have time use a shorter or lower prep.
@@SquashSwing thanks!
great tips!
Great explanation but bad audio
Yea sorry! I made the videos for my students to help them after their lessons. Thanks for commenting and reminding me I should re make the videos.
How has it taken so long for me to come across your channel! Thank you!

Just get the grip right and practice
Thanks a lot!!!💕
Simple strokes based on profound logic. Nothing fancy but effective drives and backhand push drop shot.tqvm.
Thank you so much. Like comments from other fellows, it's really helpful to me!!!
Great video thank you! Can you talk a bit about what to do with the other arm during the stroke? Both with forehand and backhand. Thanks for any tips on that.
Hi Lyndsey, backhand is easy, bring your other arm under your elbow and on the forehand hold your other hand out in front and bring in when you swing. Your other arm should be use to counterbalance your swing. Hope that helps.
I have a Squash tournament next weekend
Really good tips, thank you
There is a lot of noise in your videos and I am having a hard time understanding you
Best explanation ever .thank you
awesome teacher teaching basics how to hit the ball with proper technique
Great Job!!!
Sound is TERRIBLE!
I expected a 10min theory on how to hit the ball but you went straight to the point! Thank you!! :-)
Greeting, Squash Swing. it is extremely nice video. thanks. :)
Brilliant Just wish I could remember this with the speed of the ball
same thing here
Is this New Plymouth? Thanks for the video. I play in Inglewood
kiwi yes it is.
@@SquashSwing So crazy that I finally found a great tutorial on the WWW but the guy is in my hometown 😅😅
Thanks for this video. I'm new to squash and I started learning fancy flicky shots first and I even got quite good at some, however my development quickly came to a halt as I did not practice the basics. This will help me a lot. Cheers
No doubt these videos are by far the best when it comes to learning about the different strokes. Keep up the great work
Thanks
Same as a lot of other comments, best video ive seen so far!
This video was weird.... "The racket head moving from up to down straight" - I have never heard about that.... the rackethead movint NOT straight down definitely! -when the guy made a normal swing -his racket head moving around way down...(thats the normal!) check some pro player's slow motion video!
Thank you
I've been coaching for a few years and this is the most helpful thing I've seen/heard on the FH. Subscribed. Thank you.
Too much talking, no play to visualize tips. Waste of time. Sorry.
Great info, so takes this as constructive criticism only... but since it's a video medium I was expecting a bit more "show" over "tell". Maybe demonstrate one real swing hitting a ball :)
Talk less, show more.
Great explanations. Just enough for me to grasp and try on the court. Thank you!
This is a magnificent video. Just wonder if you could shoot it again but add at the end a few minutes of slow motion video of you executing this technique?
Hi, I am actually going to remake most of the videos on the channel so stayed tuned. Cheers
One thing to note is that you must have an open racket face when you pick up your racket to swing as lots of people who start playing squash has a closed racket face. This is why they hit the tin so much because they dont get under the ball.Hope this makes sence.
This is golden! Thanks a lot. Can you show us backhand drive also?
Too much speech. Teaching sports needs DEMOSTRATIONS. At the end you must film from de back of the court. But thank you
Thanks that helped a lot
I find it's too tight the wall to volley and it's dying in the back corner before I can dig it out. What am I doing wrong??
Laurie Mackenzie check your position and make sure you can step forward into a volley or let me ball bounce off the wall. So it’s really important to anticipate and move to the ball or wait. Then work on your volley.
I see you still haven't shaved
"Now I will tell U how to serve" would be better title
This is a great video. You’re two demos at the end we’re actually the most helpful for me after your explanation. It’s almost like I need to create a 5minute loop of those two examples to really visualise the technique. Really enjoying your videos mate.
Thanks, appreciate your kind words.
Thank you, Gandalf.
